The Challenge
We were looking to make the dispatch area more efficient, as we were wasting too much time changing rolls of tape on the tape guns and using too much of other general packaging materials. We wanted to be more eco friendly and have more money in the pot to spend elsewhere.
The Solution
As a company, we are working towards achieving net zero by 2025, so anything we can do towards this is a bonus. We wanted to move away from plastic tape to ensure we were being as eco-friendly as possible.
Springpack installed automatic paper tape machines in our packing areas to speed up our processes and to get rid of plastic tape. The water activated paper tape is fully recyclable so not only does it benefit our eco-friendly mission, but it alot creates a very strong bond to our boxes.
The Result
Service is awesome! We have never had a problem. We can call and speak to someone who will help, and as we are local, you guys come in and visit if we need it.
We have cut down our overall waste in time by about 200 to 300 hours every quarter, just by switching to the tape machines, instead of the handheld tape guns which is much, much better!
We have reduced waste and have reduced cost by not wasting materials. But it has also helped the health of staff physically, as they no longer get repetitive strain injury as they are not using the handheld tape guns! Also, we don’t have to worry about the safety of the staff as the blades are covered on the tape machines, so less injuries.
